We have gone through our first year and with all things, we must grow or die.  We at Warren Design & Build are choosing to grow.  And, with the growth comes change.

First, I want to thank Loyd Miller.  Loyd served as our General Manager for the first year.  He negotiated the asset purchase from Astro.  He hired some of our key employees.  Finally, he re-established our relationship with Delphi and got us on the approved supplier list and on Delphi’s larger Category Approved Supplier List (CASL).  He worked hard and did his best to make this a great start up.  Unfortunately, the previous model, largely based on mechanical design from one large customer was not enough to make this start-up work and Loyd decided his talents were best used elsewhere.  We thank him for his time and friendship and wish him only the best.

So where now?  Warren Design & Build will do $2.5 million in sales in 2015.  Not a lot, but not bad considering it is our first full year.  We have grown from one customer to approximately 20 customers with the list continuing to grow.  In addition to growth, our focus is expanding from mechanical design and builds to electronic designers and integrators.  This means that while we will continue to manage our mechanical side and history, we see our biggest growth opportunities with all forms of electronic integration, including:  robotics, drive and servo integration, PLC design and programming and integrating new products into factories to improve their information and automation.  Our best estimates have us growing to $4.0 million in sales in 2016 and $5.0 million in 2017.  In addition to electronic and mechanical design, we are looking for growth through a product line which is yet to be named.  We have on-going discussions with 5 or 6 partners looking for a manufacturing partner (Warren Design & Build), which would give us a steady stream of products rolling out of the facility.  So that is our plan.

Our new organization will be led by Rod Summerfield, General Manager.  Rod has a wide background in electronics, including assignments at Tecnocap, General Electric, ABB (Robotics) and formerly Astro.  He is perfectly suited to lead and guide this team through its next evolution.
